DIKE | The Wisdom of Justice

In the proem of the poem On Nature, Parmenides entrusts Dike, Justice, with the task of guarding the passage between opinion and truth. From that gesture takes shape a decisive direction of Western philosophy: to seek what is just and authentic through reason.
The DIKE edition of the Festival of Philosophy in Magna Graecia is born from this legacy.
Velia, ancient Elea, is its symbolic center; the itinerary passes through Paestum, Ascea and Vallo della Lucania, intertwining philosophy, experience and territory.
Justice is configured as nomos that becomes logos: a principle that directs thought beyond common and shared opinion, toward the good, the just, happiness. A justice at times demanding, capable of requiring difficult choices, yet necessary to remove thought from the false and the misleading.
Today this theme also questions the world of the school, called to confront the transformations introduced by artificial intelligence. DIKE thus becomes a space for reflection on how to educate toward critical thinking, orienting technological innovation according to criteria of responsibility, inclusion and centrality of the person.
From 12th to 24th of April 2026, in three sessions, the Festival brings together schools, students and teachers in a path of reflection and philosophical practice. An invitation addressed to schools, students and teachers: to allow philosophy to guide the gaze.
