With the support of the Municipality of Rochùdi and in collaboration with the Hellenophone Associations “Hellenic Community of the Strait of Messina-Reggio”, “Paleaghenea” and “Musicofilia”, 

THE 3rd EDITION OF THE PERSEPHONE AWARD

PROGRAM

5:30 PM - beginning of the event of the 3rd edition of the Persephone Award:

  • introduction by cultural coordinator Prof. Salvatore Dieni;
  • Prof. Saverio Verduci, teacher and well-known local historian, will coordinate the evening;
  • greetings from Mayor Prof. Pier-Paolo Zavettieri;
  • greetings from the President of the Association Dr. Giacomo Stelitano;
  • greetings from authorities and representatives of the associations present.

5:50 PM - Prof. Matteo Laganà, teacher of Latin and Greek at T. Campanella High School in Reggio Calabria
will discuss “Persephone, feminine symbol of the myth of the afterlife”.

6:10 PM - Prof. Daniele Macrìs, teacher of Latin and Greek at Maurolico High School in Messina, president of the Hellenic Community of the “Strait”, will discuss “The Greek identity of the Strait between common roots with Hellenophone Bovesia and unique strategies of identity preservation”.

6:30 PM - Prof. Domenico Carteri, sculptor from the Hellenophone area will discuss “Persephone in art”.

6:45 PM - award ceremony of the “Persephone Award”
to school principal Dr. Anna Maria Cama (reading of motivation).

7:00 PM - speech by Dr. Anna Maria Cama.

7:15 PM - musical performance by Maestro Aldo Gurnari, head of the Musicofilia group, author and authentic interpreter of Helleno-Calabrian and Greek musical tradition.

7:30 PM - Prof. Delten Schild, president of the EPISTOA Association will discuss
“Strategies for preserving Ancient Languages, Latin and Greek and what future for the Greek language of Southern Aspromonte”.

7:50 PM - concluding remarks by Prof. Saverio Verduci
